Scouts can participate in popcorn sales in a variety of ways, including:
- Online sales Scouts can sell popcorn online through their unit’s Trail’s End account. They can use the app to take orders, make wagon sales, sell at a storefront, and share their page to make online sales.
- Show and sell Scouts can sell popcorn in front of a retail store or in a local mall with permission from their den, pack, or troop. They can interact directly with community members and encourage them to buy popcorn.
- Take order Scouts can go door-to-door with an order sheet to ask for popcorn orders from friends, family, and neighbors. They can then deliver the ordered products to customers at a later date. Parents can also help by taking order forms to work.
- Show and deliver Scouts can carry Trail’s End popcorn with them to show to customers as they visit them.
Selling popcorn can help Scouts develop skills such as:
- Handling rejection Scouts may be told no or ignored, but they can learn to gracefully handle rejection.
- Perseverance Scouts can learn to be tenacious and keep going if they don’t get a sale at one house or if someone leaves a store without buying.
- Math skills Scouts can practice math skills by adding up order totals, making change, and calculating how much more they need to sell to reach their goal.
