The Long Beach Council serves over 3,000 Scouts in Long Beach, Lakewood, Bellflower, Signal Hill and Avalon. We offer 5 programs for youth and families to participate in. Individual groups within these programs are run by trained adult and youth leaders so locations, meeting times and activity schedules will vary. That means that there is definitely a Scout group that will work with your family’s schedule!

Do you like to learn by doing? Then Cub Scouts is just the place for you! Earn rewards for doing things like setting up a tent, sending a secret code to a friend, visiting a fire station, building a Pinewood Derby car or talking to an astronaut. Scouts join a Pack of K-5 graders, who are then broken down into smaller groups called Dens, that consist of about 6-8 children in the same grade. Cub Scouts tend to meet 1-3 times a month (each Pack sets its own schedule). Together they learn that doing their best is the most fun of all!

These Scouts learn the value of hard work and experience the thrill of seeing it pay off. Service, community engagement, and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as youth lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout. Scouts join a Troop of 6-12 graders, who are broken down into smaller groups called Patrols that typically meet weekly.

Like Scouts BSA, venturing is youth-led and youth-inspired program full of challenge and adventure. This program emphasizes a Scout’s ability to create their own experiences, from repelling down a cliff to volunteering in an animal shelter — the choice is yours! It brings Scouting values to life through both high adventure outdoor activities and challenging real-world projects. Scouts join a Crew who typically meet monthly.
