Order of the Arrow

Order of the Arrow

For over 100 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these ideals as well. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others. OA service, activities, adventures, and training for youth and adults are models of quality leadership development and programming that enrich and help to extend Scouting to America’s youth.

The Order of the Arrow is Scouting’s National Honor Society. Members are elected to the OA by their fellow scouts within their units, and are expected to take the knowledge and experience learned through the OA back to their units. While members are encouraged to participate actively in their local Lodge, the OA recognizes that a scouts duty is to their unit first.

Puvunga Lodge 32

The OA is a Council wide program intended to recognize and serve all the scouts and scouters within their council. Puvunga Lodge 32 was first chartered in 2012 to serve Long Beach Area Council. In the best tradition of Scouting, the Order of the Arrow and Puvunga Lodge is led by youth leadership with the support of adult advisors. Not only does membership in the OA allow scouts to meet and work with scouts from other units, but from other Lodges in our Section, and nation wide.

Scouts who were elected into the Order of the Arrow(OA) by their unit must complete an ordeal in order to become a member. The ordeal is an induction activity toward membership in the Order of the Arrow.
