District Award of Merit

The District Award of Merit is awarded by a District to volunteers for service to youth in the District. It is the highest award given to a Scouter at the District level.  The District Award of Merit is a council award presented by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by councils.

The recognition was first presented in 1956 as the District Scouter’s Award. The name was changed in 1974 to District Award of Merit. Recipients are listed with the district name that existed when the award was presented.
