How would you like to stay in a comfortable cabin on a plush green hillside with trees and nature all around you? Near a watering hole for swimming and a shaded tree canopy for lounging?

Well such a place exists right here in Long Beach.  Our oasis is called the Will J. Reid Scout Park featuring the legendary Campmaster cabin. Only a select few scouters have been allowed to enjoy such a wonderful treat.

But now the best kept secret is now available to you...

The campmaster corps. consists of a group of selected, trained, and registered Scouters who serve Will J. Reid Scout Park whenever troops, teams, Webelos dens, or posts are using any part of the camp property.  A Campmaster selects their own time, frequency of service, and stay on the property.

Upon review and acceptance of an application the campmaster candidate will be required to attend an orientation training class and an overnight training weekend.

The campmaster program is a great way for you to enjoy the best of scouting, while sharing your skills as "host", caretaker, and experienced scouter.

We provide all of the training and fun; you just kick back, relax and assist your unit and others to have a great weekend of camping at W.J.R. Scout Park.

Interested scouters should contact the Scout Service Center at (562) 427-0911
